The family

Generations of the MÉNARD family have succeeded one another without interruption on the same land for over two centuries. An official and perfectly preserved property deed shows that Jean MÉNARD owned a large vineyard and distillery in 1815.

Today, the MÉNARD family vineyards stretch over approximately 80 hectares. In these estates, all located in Grande Champagne, the Premier cru of the Cognac region, the grapes that produce MÉNARD Grande Fine Champagne (AOC) cognac and MÉNARD Pineau des Charentes (AOC) are harvested.

All the wines are distilled on the property in copper stills following the traditional methods of the Charentes region.

The brandy is then placed in barrels made of Limousin oak, where the slow action of time gives birth to Ménard cognac. The cognac only acquires its qualities through a prolonged stay in these barrels. There, important and obvious changes occur such as a decrease in >volume due to evaporation, lowering in the degree of alcohol and absorption of the wood tannin by the brandy, giving cognac its lovely amber colour, its perfume and inimitable taste, with the appearance of "rancio" (type of maderization), which is very characteristic of old cognacs.
